Dr. Toygar Toydemir was born in 1976 and graduated from Gaziantep Science High School in 1994. In the same year, he began his medical education at Ege University Faculty of Medicine, completing his six-year program in 2000. After graduation, he completed his General Surgery residency at Şişli Etfal Education and Research Hospital from 2001 to 2006. During this period, he became acquainted with basic surgical principles and took his first steps in his academic career.
After fulfilling his mandatory service at Erzurum Palandöken State Hospital, he worked as a clinical chief at Adana Military Hospital from 2008 to 2009. From the early stages of his residency, he developed an interest in laparoscopic surgical methods and pursued advanced laparoscopic training at various centers both domestically and internationally after completing his specialty. Between 2009 and 2011, he worked with Prof. Mehmet Ali Yerdel in the field of reflux surgery and became part of numerous operations during this period. In 2010, he passed both the written and oral stages of the Turkish Surgical Association’s board exam and earned his certification.
From 2011 to 2013, he focused on obesity surgery with Prof. Dr. Koray Tekin and participated in over 800 bariatric surgeries during this time. In 2013, he worked with Dr. Mitchell Roslin at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, specializing in revisional bariatric surgery, where he had the opportunity to closely observe the approaches in the United States. In 2014, he successfully completed the associate professorship exam organized by YÖK and received the title of "Associate Professor of General Surgery." In 2020, Dr. Toydemir was promoted to professor, continuing his academic work while also gaining opportunities to participate in various international platforms with his proficiency in English and intermediate Italian. He is married and has two children.
