Op. Dr. Levent Bakışgan was born in 1973 in Germany. He spent his childhood and youth years in Istanbul. After graduating from Kabataş Boys' High School, he started at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1991. He graduated as a medical doctor in 1997 and then focused on the field of general surgery. In line with this, he prepared a thesis on the effects of laparoscopic cholecystectomy on kidney function during his specialty training, which he completed in 2003.
After completing his specialization, he worked in various public hospitals and private healthcare institutions, performing various surgeries in general surgery. During his public service, he worked in different provinces, primarily in the Thrace region. He then transitioned to private healthcare institutions and became more focused on obesity surgery. He particularly concentrated on procedures such as sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, gastric balloon, and similar applications.
After working in various private hospitals in the field of general surgery since 2011, in 2021, he established his own clinic, SoracaMed Clinic (Bakışgan Clinic), in the Şişli – Osmanbey district of Istanbul. He primarily focuses on obesity treatments at this clinic and also offers non-surgical methods such as gastric balloon and gastric botox.
In order to develop health tourism services for patients, especially those from abroad, he obtained the International Health Tourism Authorization Certificate. He plans most of his surgeries at A+ private hospitals. He works alongside a dietitian and psychologist in his clinic, following the pre-operative and post-operative processes of his patients with a holistic approach. He also continues to share his views on television programs related to obesity, educating the public.
