Dr. Merve Özkan Akagündüz began her academic journey graduating from Edirne Anatolian Teacher High School in 2006, a background suggesting a rigorous early education. She pursued higher education at Istanbul University's (Çapa) Faculty of Dentistry, completing her master's degree between 2007 and 2012. This foundational degree equipped her for general dental practice. Demonstrating high academic aptitude, she secured a high rank (28th) in the competitive Dental Specialty Exam (DUS) in 2014, granting her entry into the Orthodontics specialization program at Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Dentistry, which she completed between 2014 and 2019.
Her professional career started in 2012 as a General Dentist in a private Istanbul polyclinic for about a year. Concurrently with her specialization studies (2014-2019), she served as a Research Assistant Dentist at Süleyman Demirel University, combining academic duties with clinical training. Upon qualifying as an orthodontist, she worked at the Çorlu Oral and Dental Health Center from 2019 to 2021. In 2022, she took a significant step by founding the Istanbul Ortodonti Kliniği. Since 2024, she continues her practice at the Özel Dore Ağız ve Diş Sağlığı Polikliniği. Dr. Akagündüz specializes in Orthodontics, with specific interests in adult orthodontics, early orthodontic appliances, clear aligner therapy, and orthognathic surgery. She is an active member of the Turkish Orthodontic Society.
