Born in 1966, Op. Dr. Ömer Melih Aygün began his education at F.M.V. Private Işık High School. After high school, he graduated from Trakya University Faculty of Medicine in 1989, earning the title of doctor of medicine. After graduation, he completed his specialty training in obstetrics and gynecology at Zeynep Kamil Women's and Children's Diseases Education and Research Hospital in Istanbul. The experience he gained during this period directed him to the fields of reproductive health and infertility.
Between 1997 and 1998, he worked as a fellow in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Vienna Faculty of Medicine. During this time, he participated in research and international projects, expanding his academic knowledge. He then returned to Turkey and worked at various private hospitals. Throughout his career, he has actively worked at institutions such as the German Hospital, Medicana Çamlıca Hospital, and Istanbul Şişli Memorial Hospital.
Since 2007, he has focused on infertility at the ERASMUS Women & Reproductive Health Center and also took on organizational responsibilities as the CEO of the center. Since 2014, he has continued to serve patients at the Istanbul Şişli Memorial Hospital IVF and Reproductive Genetics Center. He has made 25 presentations at national and international scientific meetings and has published approximately 30 articles. Over the last nine years, he has performed over 15,000 egg retrieval procedures, carrying out comprehensive practices in this field.
Continuing his academic work and clinical practice, Dr. Aygün is proficient in English and German. He is a member of professional organizations such as the Istanbul Medical Chamber, ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology), ASRM (American Society for Reproductive Medicine), Turkish Medical Association, TSRM (Reproductive Health and Infertility Association), and TJOD (Turkish Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology). He remains active in both scientific meetings and clinical work.
