Asst. Prof. Alper Halil Bayat earned his Medical Doctor degree from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2013. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Health Sciences Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital in 2018. His residency thesis involved a comparative study on the efficacy and safety of intravitreal aflibercept and ranibizumab treatments for macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion, indicating an early interest in medical retina research. His professional journey began as a general practitioner (2013-2014) before his residency (2014-2018).
Post-residency, Dr. Bayat gained experience in diverse settings: Malazgirt State Hospital (2018-2020), Private Alanya Yaşam Hospital (2020), and Istanbul Medipol University Esenler Hospital (2020-2021). Since 2021, he has been practicing as an Ophthalmologist at the BAU Medical Park Göztepe Hospital Complex. Concurrently, since 2022, he holds the academic position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine. His specializations include cataract and refractive surgery, vitreoretinal surgery, iris-claw lens implantation, and femtosecond laser surgery. He has also received training in strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology, and periocular cosmetic approaches. He is a member of the Turkish Medical Association and the Turkish Ophthalmology Society.
